now to be fair, this is a theist; not theists. individuals can be acceptably hypocritical, however you need the head of the church or conclusive trend to reflect on all theists

The ability of Christians to compartmentalize their thinking is astonishing. I heard that Sarah Palin told Oprah that she wants to take the father of her grandchild under her wing and nurture him. That's borderline schizophrenic. The right hand…

How Many More Times?

Evangelist Tony Alamo Sentenced to 175 Years for Taking Girls Across State Lines for SexThis is to be expected when religion fails to examine itself honestly. This is the manifestation of the kind of dualism that has the Evangelical community out protesting gay marriage while enjoying a 52% divorce rate. This hypocrisy is born from theists who push to replace sex education in our schools with "Abstinence Only" and…See More

You know Bryan, you've encapsulated the very point on "taxation without representation"...and it seems to me that 223 years ago, a war was fought over precisely that: taxation without representation. When the interests of humanity and…

The Rise of Islamic creationism...don't Christians see the paradox here?

Religion has its costs. As Drake Bennett points out in his article: “The Rise of Islamic creationism,” (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/points/storiesDN-bennett_08edi.State.Edition1.2292669.html) science continues to be challenged by those whose only arguments are based on a priori assumptions. I’m wondering if fundamentalist Christians here in…See More

This is pure speculation. Religion is a meme, not the result of DNA. Social evolution is a hotly disputed subject and we have no objective evidence that links changes in the moral zeitgeist to the process of natural selection. But then, the guy on…

We debate origins of the Universe, life, Earth, humans, religion, atheism, using common sense, evolution, cosmology, geology, archaeology, and other sciences, to repel biblical creationism and other religious beliefs.

That's because even the "moderate" Xtians deep down inside approve and share Anderson's pro-patriarchy homophobic sentiments. Silence is approval, you know.

Fundie Baptist Minister says he prays for our President to die and go to hell...

Where is the anger, the protests, or condemnations of Steve Anderson from the moderate and liberal Christians in this country? Are we really at a place in our lives where we can utter such hatred based on differing political opinions? This is exactly the type of crazed fundie that Chris Hedges writes about in his book American Fascists.

Christians enjoy the highest divorce rate but campaign against Gay marriage?

Anyone else see the paradox here? Earlier this decade, the Barna Research Group provided data on American divorce rates; here. Not surprising to our community, Christians get divorced as often as anyone else. So much for “Focus on the Family.” Results indicated that Evangelicals topped the list in divorce. With such a high rate of divorce, compared with the population at large, why aren’t Christians more… Continue

We are Great Parents...How shocking

Posted on August 4, 2009 at 8:47am 2 Comments

One of my Christian friends recently commented that my two adult daughters seemed very moral for children who were raised as "Freethinkers." I asked this friend, "Do you think Atheists are any less moral than people who profess belief?" My friend was embarrassed by the question and did not answer.

It is true, my two adult daughters, while not prudes, respect themselves in relationships. Why would that be surprising? I raised my children to value themselves and others and really… Continue
