"You say you're an atheist. As I understand the word, an atheist is a person who believes there is no god. That is a belief. And that belief sends you down the road into a religion of sorts. And that belief is a sort of narrow mindedness that…"
"Hi Jezzy. <<Atheists tend to be weird, egotistical, reclusive cat-people.>> Not exactly. I know that I don't fall under the last two of those categories, and I'll leave it up to other people to decide if I'm weird. Over…"
"NAME CALLING, in general, is stupid, immature, and usually counter productive. The whole idea of applying Labels to people and then using those labels in a pejorative or derogatory manner is less than civilized. Period. But from another viewpoint,…"
"Writer: I agree with your idea. I'd like to suggest one tiny change to your suggestion. Instead of "Values and Morals," lets try to assimilate a book of "Values and Ethics." The difference is kinda important to me. Also,…"
"While thinking about this conversation late last night, I realize I may have misspoken in my previous post. I've never actually "called" my sweetheart a whore (or any other woman, for that matter). Instead, she told me during an…"
"Hi Dogly. Actually, I have never called a woman a whore, with one exception. My sweetie, who is the most devoted and ethical woman I've ever known, told me when we first established an intimate relationship two years ago that she wanted to be…"
"Hi Dogly. Well, first off, I was called a "whoremonger" by some of my contemporaries when I was a young man, chiefly (I guess) because the people casting those stones were either envious of the good time I was having or else they were just…"
"Our language lacks appropriate vocabulary to accurately say what is true for me about this subject. The nearest I can come (in English) is this: I love whores because I'm a whore-monger. What I mean is that I love women who love sex. I regard…"
"I've always thought of virginity as a malady to be corrected...as soon as one is "old enough" AND has the desire to be free of it. The notion of glorifying virginity seems absurd and mostly likely evidence of severe religious…"
"One of my greatest hopes and expectations of an atheist discussion group is for it to be a forum for subjects that are taboo and usually repressed by religious organizations. In other words, I want it to host open, frank, and uncensored…"
"My result on this test is amusing: Voila, I'm a woman! I can't wait to tell my girlfriend about this, especially since we've both been judged by previous spouses & partners as over-sexed. So I guess that from this test I could…"
"Some of my counseling and mentoring experiences included felons trying to get their lives restarted. One young man had been convicted of statutory rape of a 15-year old girl when he was 17. The court threw the book at him, even though the girl had…"
"People who throw around such demeaning labels don't make it into my circle of friends--or they certainly don't stay very long. Women who like sex (a lot) and have pleased themselves with many men are, in my world view, champions among…"
"I think that would be wonderful, especially because I am polyamorous. Monogamy is a terrible expectation because we humans need sexual variety like we need variety in our everyday lives as social beings. It is because much of the major religions say…"
I am a practitioner of Zen meditation, and I advocate its principles and ethics. Zen has no belief system, worships no deities, has no scriptures, and has no rituals save for meditation. Zen is a pathway to inner knowledge and the discovery of one's self-nature.

You will do well to expand on these comments from time to time on appropriate discussion topics. Very glad to be a friend of yours. Terry.
Greetings, Felch. [omg, what a great name!] What's there to reconcile? Just because all or most of the world's religions pay homage to imaginary deities, doesn't mean there is no such thing as a source of non-physical knowledge and power. Several of the brain labs have quantitatively measured the human conscious mind at about 3.5% to 4% of the whole mind. Do you have any idea what might be in that 96% or so of your mind that you can't consciously access?
Hi Brother Eduardo
Your sentiments, expressed above, are good.
Welcome to this great Nexus meeting place and its thousands of bright people like you who recognise religion for the superstition and giant fraud that it is---
and that gods exist only as fictions inside people's heads.
