One of the reasons frequently cited for our ineffectualness as a political force is the fact that atheists aren't "joiners" and hold diverse opinions. "Herding cats" is the common expression.

I'm at the FFRF convention in Seattle, and I can't believe how few people have heard of AtheistNexus, even among 20-somethings The level of collaboration between organizations in our community is really appalling.
