"I agree with book club analogy. People start clubs with specific guidelines for joining all the time as a way to connect with people who have similar interests, ideas, etc. I love that there is a place on the internet just for nontheists, where we…"
"Many people get enough debate and proselytizing at home and work. It feels good to come home and have a place where you are guaranteed a break from it. There are SO many places where the atheist/theist debate is open, why should this place be too?"
"So often an atheist discussion board will become filled with theological arguments that it becomes of little use to atheists. I would hope that somewhere, sometime, there could be a forum where atheists are there to help atheists overcome religious…"
"Y'know, I enjoy debating theists. I do it on many sites.
It's fun to tear their logic apart sometimes, and there are many sites where we can debate like that.
This site is specifically for atheists to meet and converse with other…"
"I just read that page. I didn't want theists here before and I really do not want them here now. I don't want to come here if crap like that is going to be served up daily. I don't care if the bible says I'm a fool and whether…"
"A member of WonderCafe responded to the initial statement about A|N being closed minded with the following:
[Reading from the same page you did, it's a self-described "community of non-theists". There are plenty of atheist-run places…"

Mea culpa. I didn't read that thread all the way through.…"
"I read the Wonder Cafe site where A/N is being discussed. One person has mentioned it's a social networking site and that plenty of other sites are not exclusionary.
Brett is extremely more polite there than here.

I'm a 100% good, kind, steadfast, confirmed, devout, committed, militant, fundamentalist, ultra-tolerant, rabid, logical, rational, empirical, *non-denominational* four square, life-long, evangelical, wholier-than-thou, born-again, saved-from-religion, Bright strong ATHEIST+. ... ( Atheistic family going back at least to the 1800s. )
I've participated in several forums, sites, etc., including RD.net, Rationalia (and OBC/Bella's predecessor - how quickly I've forgotten), Herd of Cats (~2 posts?), Yahoo! Answers R&S and more. Just looking at the Home page, I can see Margaret Downey (whom I've talked to and saw in Long Beach) and Richard (RD.net Canadian Bright Group Lead, IIRC).
