Choir singing hymns in public school performance

My grandson, a high school freshman in Michigan, just played for me the recording of his choir performance. The singing was beautiful, but the song lyrics were about "praising God and giving glory to his name". I say this is inappropriate for a public school and violates separation of church and state. My husband says its just a song that demonstrates their vocal skills, and no big deal. Your thoughts?

Hi Billie - yeah we really  are endangered species here in Franklin. I was fortunate to work at a scientific research facility where there were many free thinkers. I have many  friends that are religious but they don't throw it in my face. Although, I suspect they pray for my salvation - ha!

Dyslexia is just a generational curse, and if you pray to Jesus enough, he'll remove the curse.

Heh, I actually had some Pentecostal lady tell me that about my bipolar disorder, once.  I'm generally pretty good about stifling the laughter, when people say things that stupid, but I couldn't help myself, that time.

Hi Billie
