Atheist Morality

A place for atheists to discuss morality issues. What shapes your morality? What new perspectives have you found since abandoning faith (if you ever had any)? Is there any merit to religious moral authority?

Glenn Sogge replied to Ben Gold's discussion Reason vs. Emotion? in the group Atheists who love Science!

Glenn Sogge replied to Ben Gold's discussion Reason vs. Emotion? in the group Atheists who love Science!

Haha, I knew it. Yes, Belgians are big beer-fans, as you probably experienced first-hand during your stay.
You must be pretty well travelled though (judging from that picture and the picture of the Tower Bridge). I've never crossed the Atlantic myself but it is definitely on my to-do list.

Hi. Thanks for the friend invite!
I see you only just arrived on the Nexus. I hope you enjoy yourself here. I like to think of it as a little oasis of free thought.

Btw I had no idea they had those kinds of beer glasses in the US (I'm referring to the fourth photo on your slideshow). We Belgians call a glass like that a kwak-glass, as a reference to the nasty surprise you get if you drink too quickly ;)

thanks! i actually just sent you a message because i'm still computer illiterate at this. i think i know where you live, and i mean that in the most non-creepiest way possible. then again, i'm sure there's a lot of sleepy hollows in new york, possibly? the one i'm thinking of is on LI where I used to live and in H.S. my friends and I would go there all the time and hang out on this bridge there and pretend it was haunted, i guess. don't ask haha actually, forget this entire comment probably hahaha

Hello Ben, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where freethinking atheists recognise that gods are phoney and religion is a fraud used to control people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and more.

Terry Meaden
founder of the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Evolution, Darwin..." with its 270 discussion topics. We invite you to join us.
