I am not defending any interpretation of the Old Testament. In fact I am 100% certain the no god exists and have proven it logically, at least to myself. For me, the only meaningful statement in the Bible or any similar document, is the very first line, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

Jedi Wanderer said… Yikes, how did you end up in an evangelical school in the US? That sounds like an interesting story. I would hate that too. I was actually sent to a private Jewish school growing up, but I think Jewish culture values the mind more than Christians do. A LOT of Jews become atheists, and I think that's got a lot to do with it.
You are going to love NYC! I'm actually not much of a city person myself, much more of a homebody type who likes wildlife, but not crowded spaces. but a musician/actress type like yourself should feel right at home.
As for me, I live in NJ, about 30 minutes outside of NYC. I am studying online for a MA in the humanities while staying at home watching my 3 (soon to be 4) sons, while my Turkish wife works overseas. And I'm 34 ;-)

It isn't a language thing, it's how things are framed.
Richard ∑wald said… If you're really an atheist, why do you frame your questions as if the premise is a "truth"?
Joseph P said… Ah, yeah, I can see what you mean. Muslims don't evangelize, like American fundamentalist Christians do, do they? Our guys are definitely a lot more noisy, on a personal level. I see plenty of Muslims in the media, talking about random things, but those mostly seem to be speaking to other Muslims.
But every Muslim I've met in person has generally been of the opinion that I should go on holding my beliefs, and he should go and have his. I dunno. That could just be because they're in tiny minority. The Muslims in England are a much bigger problem. They've reached something like 3% or 4% of the population, particularly in urban areas, and have begun trying to throw their weight around.
Joseph P said… Interesting. Why the focus on Christianity? Most people are the most aggressive against the religion they came out of. Hell, it's a point of competition and pride, amongst most atheists I know, to see who broke away from the most screwed up religion.
Or were you a Christian raised in the predominantly Muslim country of Turkey? Your profile doesn't specify. I made that stretch, then realized that I might be mistaken.
If you were raised Muslim, what is it that makes you so focused on Christianity?
