FAQ on why I left the church (Brian’s Story)

Brian worked as Children’s Pastor at Freshwater Community Church in St. Bonifacius MN from 2005 to 2011. He and his wife and their 3 children currently live in China. This is their story of deconversion.

Welcome, April! Glad you could join us. :D

Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. You might also like Young Atheist Women, Women Atheists, Female Atheists, and possibly Feminist Atheists.

I also recommend Eco-Logical and Climate Concerns, since the climate is changing so drastically.

After you've searched for topics of interest in "Groups" above and in the "Forums", don't forget to look at recent activity which hides along the right margin of the page all the way at the bottom.

On a personal note, I've developed an animated gif technique, sort of “pull quote marries slideshow”. Samples are scattered across various groups, but you can find them easily by going to my twitter account. Each tweet has a link (after the description and before the hashtags) to a visually rich example here at Atheist Nexus. If you like them, please follow me

Welcome, April.  I was so touched by your story as well as that of your husband.  My story more or less parallels yours minus the church career.  I am very confident in my disbelief because as you have said, too, I have no choice.  The first confirmation of my deconversion came when a church career lifetime friend of mine deconverted.  I don't know why but this always seems to carry more weight as does your story.  I would still be a disbeliever but it is always encouraging when someone validates my truth.  Best wishes to you and yours as you adjust to your new life.  You will make new like-minded friends and I know you will find many of them here.

Hello April

Well done. What adventure. Welcome to this world of rationality and peace, where pure common sense is enough to lead to the open freethinking wisdom common to non-believers.

We invite you to join the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Gods, Atheism, Evolution, Darwin..." with 700 discussion topics and 3600+ members.
