- My Mother was a devout catholic until my brother died in her arms at age 10 months, she then converted to Jehovah's Witness when the catholic church had no answers for her loss. Her whole existence is evolves around religion and the hope of seeing my brother again. So the rest of us were bashed around with the doom and gloom of Armageddon and all that goes with it, and no feasible answers to the whole virgin birth, hypocrisy's and of why we suffered at the hands of abusers etc. I grew up thinking I was a horrendously dreadful person because god was constantly punishing me, and I didn't understand what I had done that was so bad to be punished in this way. So you could say I lived a very confused life, and still do to some degree. unraveling the mess of indoctrination certainly takes time.
