"What about children?" Article on censorship

I particularly love the part where the author expresses: 'The kinds of speech and expression that are likely to produce distress, or even psychological trauma, if shown to young children might include depictions of cruelty to animals, depictions of sympathetic human or animal characters being killed, and supernatural threats (such as threats of hellfire or divine vengeance).'

I like the way you put that "no fringing allowed" hehe. Thanks for accepting my request. I look forward to checking out your discussions.

BTW, I am concerned about the excess greed and overpopulation as well. The older I get the more anti-consumerist I become. Have you seen World in the Balance: The Population Paradox?

Thanks. My sentiments exactly. The (un)holy bible does condemn homosexuality. The fact that homos believe it in proves that people read what they want to read and ignore what they want to ignore in it. They're the same as the fundies that hate them.

Someone asked me if my name meant Gay + Theist or Gay + Atheist. I intended the latter, but I don't object to the former. Kind of funny, really.

Welcome to Atheist Nexus. Be sure to check out the Groups page to find like-minded people. And don't be shy about the "About Me" section. That's how we'll get to know you.

BTW, I've started three groups here: Ars Poetica, Lovers of Shakespeare, and All Things Chthonic. Please check them out and join if you are interested.

Hi Angelica,

I noticed that you are from Raleigh. :) I live in Snow Camp, just south of Burlington.

If you ever want to get together with like minded people, I invite you to come check out Raleigh / Durham Atheist Meet Group http://atheists.meetup.com/80/ . We gather once a month and share ideas. The next will be meeting in February, at a museum to hear a lecture about Evolution by Carl Zimmer.

If you are more of a loner, then that's ok too. I just thought I would give you the invite since you live close.

By the way, I am a designer too. I design Kitchens. :)

This busy group has fine discussion, good writing, about 100 science video clips including 10 recent Stanford University lectures on evolution, and it seeks to understand the mysteries of the universe and how life and everything began.
