Greetings, v! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus since Feb. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

i love it, the flying spaghetti monster religion or the jedi religion - nice way to fill that void with something equally inane but at least transparently fun. I'm cheered by your helping your muslim friend re-evaluate her beliefs using the scripture itself. I haven't tried that but it sounds worthwhile. I agree with your thought about how hard it is to give up the label of muslim considering the risk she would be taking with her family and culture and even her life.

It sounds like you would really like to figure out a way to keep the strong atheistic consciousness that you value in Europe and not be crushed into a minority viewpoint like it is here in the U.S.. And it sounds like some strategies you are wondering about are opposing faith teaching in schools and convincing muslims to either leave their religion or leave the UK.
It is quite a challenge, isn't it, figuring out how to contend with a population whose beliefs are so irrational and yet are so deeply held.... I hope the UK and continent find a way, because right now, as far as I know, you are the only significant place on earth where atheism and the rationality that go with it are a core belief held by the majority. Not to mention your having a conscience about providing one another with health care. It would be really discouraging if you got dragged down the theistic rat hole whether it was a christian or islamic or other hyper religious faith based world view. I appreciate your concerns and commitment to keeping reason paramont in your culture.

Welcome to Atheist Nexus from one ardent English atheist to another (check out My Profile if you like).
I have been running a busy discussion group since last September. It is called "Origins: Universe, Life, Earth, religion....etc".
Do come and visit and join.

Yes--save in the major cities, people often do look at you funny in the States if you openly admit your atheism.

On the "Islamification" of the U.K., when will the British courts rule on the legality of the sharia courts?

Orthodox Mormon intolerance

Nathan Young That's true Jonathan Brown.  At one time I was a member of the MRA board when it was more open towards hearing an orthodox Mormon views on things.  Since that time the MRA is now under the stewardship of a new 'religion' the 'Society for Humanistic Mormonism' which is merely another apostate religion.  It will fail just like all other apostate forms of Mormonism have failed including might I add the Mormon "Transhumanist" Association and their kind, and all the front…

Hello fellow atheists!  I have joined this site in an attempt to find other rational individuals, such as myself, and to promote a current charity drive that I am trying to get going for the Oklahoma tornado victims.  I have managed to get many groups from around my area, including the Beyond Belief Foundation to back me on this endeavor.

I am located in Newnan, Ga and have my own atheist group entitled "Coweta County Atheists".  I am currently being backed by Spaulding Co.…

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.
