Betrayed!

I guess it's no wonder that a former pupil of Rowan Williams, the Archwizard of Cant, feels betrayed by the latter's silence on the Uganda issue, while he's seen fit to comment on the appointment of a gay suffragan bishop in LA.I've been looking at a Times (UK) article, and have blogged about it on my regular blog, Pink Triangle for any who are interested.See More

I'm posting this for Mike, the editor of G&LH, the nonprofit free magazine for humanists/freethinkers who are gay/gay-friendly, and the latter who are the former, if you see what I mean. This issue contains an article by an Atheist Nexus member, Billy Deaton, who writes about his blog, Good Reason News.Incidentally, I've asked Brother Richard if he'll provide an article for next February's issue. Censorship - or lack of it

Here in the UK yours truly recently had a word ("Muzzies") censored on a discussion list. It was used in much the same way as one might use "fundies" or "God botherers". I was even accused of using a word askin to "Paki" or "nigger", but I doubt that anyone would agree with that. Anyway, the upshot is that we at Gay & Lesbian Humanist Magazine have now launched a Yahoo! Groups discussion list called Gaytheist. It's open to…See More

Cenroship – and lack of it

Here in the UK your humble blogger had a word ("Muzzies") censored on a discussion list. It was used in much the same way as one might use "fundies" or "God botherers". the ironic thing was, it was a discussion list of an association of gay and lesbian humanists, the very sort of group that is, or should be, against religious privilege, not averse to a bit of mild piss-taking and in favour of free speech (short of gratuitous offence and racism, of course, which this was not). I was even accused…See More

Crime, punishment and Mr Khan

Some sections of officialdom show common sense when it comes to appeasement, or lack of it, of unreasonable religious demands.

There’s this Muslim geezer in Birmingham, UK, who wants special dispensations on his community service – a punishment handed out after he was racist to an Irish policeman and harassed a judge – because… Continue

Gaytheist discussion group

Posted on August 31, 2009 at 10:55am 1 Comment

Don't know whether I told the one man and a dog that read this occasional blog, but I've set up a Yahoo! discussion group called Gaytheist. Sounds a bit like "Gay theist", I know, but we brainstormed the name and this seemed the best for a bunch of gay (and gay-friendly straight) freethinkers/secularists/atheists. There's precedent, in that there are one of two groups and/or blogs with "Gaytheist" in their name. And the rhyme with "atheist" probably overcomes the suggestion of a gay God… Continue
