No doubt many of you will be familiar with the atheist bus ads around Britain and the fuss kicked up by a few whining Christians.

Let's not forget that they were a response to religious bus ads giving links to sites which bang on about eternal torment for non-believers.

Well, now they've started responding with ads…

Welcome to the first Weekly Science Roundup. Yeah, I finally gave in and did it. But if you want to read it, this time you're going to have to go to my personal blog. I normally cross-post, but I don't have time right now!

[Cross-posted on Artificial Habitat, including links (which I haven't embedded here) and a selection of photographs from the Natural History Museum]

Yesterday (Thursday 18th) was my birthday. What better way to celebrate than attending a godless Christmas show in London (along with a visit to the Natural History Museum and over 4 hours of walking around London)!

Comedian Robin Ince was inspired by an encounter with the… Continue

Catholics don't have freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, say leading Catholics

[Cross-posted on Artificial Habitat]

The Vatican owes me another irony meter.

Here are a couple of occurances that will be familiar to those who have encountered Catholics in online discussions:

1) They often (always?) claim that any criticism of their superstitious crap by 'intolerant secular bigots' represents a concerted attempt to deny Catholics their freedom of religion.

2) Any comments to the… Continue

Hopefully around August I should be moving. I'm just looking around for a flat right now.

I know what you mean with the excess chilling haha - I am like that too, I need a job and a new routine so that I can get out of this rut i'm in - even though i've been studying i've been unemployed for so long i've forgotten what it's like to work and cannot wait to get a routine and get myself out an about. Hopefully things will work out for the best in Glasgow!

Ah right, that's a long time to wait, huh? Oh well, here's hoping!!

I'm getting on great thanks - really looking forward to moving to Glasgow, I cannot remember the last time I felt so excited hahaha.

My exam is over now so I have just been totally chilling out haha.

Hi Andrew,

Just saying howdy again and wondering if you've found out about that Thurso job at all? Or any job for that matter! :)

Thank you! I'm not sure where the Ph.d will be at, I would prefer Aberdeen but you never know, I may not want to leave Glasgow when i'm there! hee hee. I'll just have to apply to several places and see where is willing (if any) to take me. ha ha.

Precisely. I do enjoy studying but I need to be working, i'm not getting any younger! ha ha ha! The Ph.D in Clinical Psychology is idea as it is like an apprenticeship almost, you know, training on the job sort of thing. I really hope I get in but no big deal if not I guess, will just have to go for something else.

Forgot to say that, the reason i'm doing it there is because it will only take a year, compared with two or three years elsewhere, and I want to start the Ph.D before i'm 100! ha ha ha!!

Coolness! It'll likely be the Glasgow Caledonian University, either that or the University of Glasgow. I'll just see what suits me the most!

Scuba sounds ace, I am going to take that up some time!! My friend does it and really enjoys it.

The course is just a psychology MA but it will be the boost I need for getting into the clinical psychology Ph.D which is what I really want to do. I need to work very hard! hee hee.

I know how you feel, as regards to the job situ that is - I have applied for tons and not heard back a thing, if I have it is rejection, ugh! Even voluntary stuff i'm having no luck with ha ha. You can imagine what that does to one's confidence levels when voluntary organisations aren't even getting in touch ha ha ha.
Never mind, i'm sure something will turn up at some point.

Glasgow is still on the cards, if I do move there it will be in August/September as that is when the course starts. I'm really looking forward to that, there's so much to do in Glasgow and flats are very affordable compared with Aberdeen, ha ha.

Other than that, there really isn't a great deal going on with me. Hopefully that will change when I move to Glasgow. :P

Thurso, cool.. Great surf there if you're into that! Good luck with the interview! :)
