Winter and Spirituality

Please Visit My Blog! http://thearmchairantichrist.com/

As an atheist I don’t celebrate holidays like Christmas or Hannukah. But, even without being atheist, I am not much of a celebratory person. Heck, I don’t even do much for my own birthday.

Despite these circumstances, I am able experience spirituality during winter in my own way. I find the crisp, cold air very refreshing. It is almost a purifying experience for me. Th… Continue

The Genius of Kent Hovind

Please Visit My Blog! http://thearmchairantichrist.com/

Kent Hovind's doctoral thesis for Patriot University, a diploma mill, has been leaked. And it is everything you would expect to come out of a genius of his magnitude. It is full of references to the bible and attacks on evolution. Basically, if you could summarize all the content from his presentations (i.e. on youtube) you would get the same thing. It is creationist dr… Continue

Atheism is Just a Fad?

Please Visit My Blog! http://thearmchairantichrist.com/

You silly religious people. How can you make such an absurd claim? Atheism is not about being unique, trendy, or even rebellious. It is the conclusion that you come to when you follow the evidence and also the lack thereof.

Contrary to religious belief which is based in emotions, I as an atheist try to be as objective as possible. No amount of fear or hope is going to… Continue

It's Not About Heaven?

Please Visit My Blog! http://thearmchairantichrist.com/

Here is a quick debunking. Some theists claim that they don't worship Jesus just to get into heaven. I beg to differ. And by breaking it down into smaller chunks which will be easier for the theist's brain to digest, I will demonstrate how this is not true:

Q1: Why do you worship Jesus?

A1: I worship Jesus because he died for our sins.

Q2. Why did Jesus die for our s… Continue

Religious Symbolism in 9

Please Visit My Blog! http://thearmchairantichrist.com/

I finally watched the film, 9, directed by Shane Acker and produced by the likes of Tim Burton. Throughout the movie there are many very obvious allusions to religion. And many people after viewing the film have viewed it as a spiritual film because of the ending which depicts the souls of some of the rag dolls floating into the sky. But, virtually all of the references… Continue

Ironically, if you were to read my idiodic thesis it might seems quite similar to his. I used to be very much an anti-evolutionist...on principle rather than actually knowledge.

This is a great post Andrew. These are points that I mentioned to my dad along with other discrepancies in the Bible. He just thinks that I should keep reading and that the truth will be revealed.

Someone asked in Yahoo Answers Religion and Spirituality (such a hoot) if there were any Chrisitans who would go to hell if it meant that everyone else got to go to Heaven. SURPRISE! Zero takers.

HAHAHA beautiful. selfish little pricks.

It's also that Jesus dying for their sins wouldn't mean anything if it didn't allow them to get into heaven. "Oh sorry, I died for your sins but looks like you're still going to hell!"

About Me
‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ Thankfully, I came from a nonreligious family. My parents were apatheists and the topic of religon was never mentioned at home. Other than the traditional Chinese practice of ancestor worship (which was watered down) I had no supernatural leanings.

‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ In fact, my first encounter with religion came in public elementary school. In the classroom, I remember a period of time when a "moment of silence" was put in after the national anthem. At that time I did not know it was meant for prayer. Furthermore, during the Christmas holidays all the children were gathered in the school's gymnasium to sing Christmas carols, some of which were overtly religious in nature. Only when I came to recognize the explicit religiosity in the lyrics did I first confront religion. I even asked my best friend at the time, who was a devout Christian, why we were singing these songs. However, he could never give me a satisfying answer.

‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ ‌‍ Over the years I developed my own sense of "atheism", however, I did not use that word until I had actually looked it up in the dictionary. While I was developing my schema for the world I noticed that many of my peers had no real position on the issue of religion. I was very confused by this.

It is true that many people take the path of religion to lead them out of destructive life styles. It is also true that people can do the same thing without a reliance on faith (you just don't hear about it as much). You sound like a very nice you…

I've seen posts about the 50 commandments of jeebus put out by xtians that cite chapter and verse and you really don't need a commentary to go along with them. Boy it sure does kill the whole GOP/Tea Party platform.

From the article Tommy cited. "However, religious commentators have criticized Hawking's theorizing, saying he can never hope to explain what is essentially unexplainable." Well doesn't that kind of invalidate their own "god" theory then? ;p

Anybody else read it? I love the basic premise, and being an atheist means I can appreciate the mythology and not get bent out of shape about the multiple deities.

Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire state barely…
