"I went to Reed College (school motto: communism, atheism, free love)
I can warn you of the dangers of hedonism, but you can't beat the education. We need so many more places where people learn both history and science without any confusion."
"You're getting to the heart of my question. So first off, thanks for that.
I have never thought of myself as the type of person who tells others what to believe. But I find myself feeling like the religious right is growing so far from the…"
"I kinda think you are making an ass of yourself, but that's just me. Sorry for posting in the wrong place. I thought I was starting a disussion related to the news story about kids getting calls from Jesus. I didn't want to talk about that…"
"Every single conversation you have spreads rational thinking to another mind. Even if you can make one person question, that person will spread it to someone else, who spreads it to someone else. In short, have the conversation with as many people…"
"I have always had this dream of starting a private / charter school for non-theists and free thinkers. A place where families could send their children to get a great education without it being underminded by religous nuts and our often poorly…"
"No - software manuals are for weenies. I prefer the bare-knuckle approach with software. When I do have to resort to support forums though, I do try and understand them before blundering in and making an ass of myself."
"I can't hold my tongue either, and end up arguing with people who don't really care either way, trying to explain why religion is such a problem. Most people see it that there are always two extremes, you have your religious fundies, and…"

The average person on the street? The Head of Church? Many churches? There is no…See More
I saw your Disturbing Christianity discussion in Atheist News and noticed how insulting one of the responders was. Technically he is right that your discussion does not belong in News but he didn't have to be so rude. At any rate I am answering you here. I know exactly how you feel. Part of the purpose of Atheist Nexus is to give you a way to vent. Join some groups here that you like and talk to other people who think like you do. I think that might help.
I would hope you are right about widespread atheism. Certainly far more are atheist than admit it. The religionists have made a social thing out of it which entraps many.
Welcome to this splendid, international site and its thousands of bright people who recognise that religion is a fraud and gods are nothing but fictions inside the brains of the credulous. Do join Atheist Nexus groups and enjoy.
