Winter Solstice, England, Stonehenge, Neolithic,

Post holes have been dated from 8,000 BC and the site was used as a burial ground during the Neolithic period, starting about 12,000 years ago. It starts at the boundary between hunter-gatherer to agricultural eras in England.
It was orientated for rituals to watch the shortest days of the year and pray for the sun to come back again. Winter was a time of cold and starvation, of suffering and death.
