If you wait until dark, they are much easier to deal with.

Yeah it really hurt! I tried running from them. I ran inside the house as fast as I could. Beekeeping sounds awesome - plus we really need bees.

Ouch Steph!  I'm thinking about starting beekeeping next year, but they are more tame.

I am afraid of them too Sentient - in fact I had 10 of them sting me while I opened the gate and disturbed a nest of theirs. So I usually leave them alone unless they are too close to the door. Then I get the wasp spray to remove them. And yes they are beneficial insects.

Steph, I  a bit afraid of them.  had some wasp stings when i was little.  I took a very long bambooo pole and worked the nest loose, then stayed away.  I think they are predators and eat or kill harmful insects, so it's hard for me to not like them, but they do give me a shuddery feeling.

Yeah I have those wasps nests on the top level of the house on the second floor under the eaves - they are hard to remove without a ladder or something.
