A followup -- I routinely recommend ReligiousTolerance.org to people, as a US- and Canada-based site that attempts to report fairly and objectively on many different belief systems (theistic and not!) and their intersections with hot political and social issues. In one of the few clearly labeled opinion pieces there, Bruce Robinson writes that the world would be better off if religionists recognized their beliefs as a way, not the way, and if we were all better at applying the ethic of reciprocity (the "golden rule") to everyone else, even when their appearance and beliefs are very different from our own.

2. Religions that teach "We are right; they are wrong." (Is there any other kind?)
