That document is a Certificate of Marriage. Who would have thought? Photo at Clark County, Washington, Courthouse 12/11/12

Comment by Sentient Biped on January 2, 2013 at 10:13pm Thanks for the great comments! Br. Richard, I would have loved to have you officiate. If we can get Georgia on board, you might have a lucrative moment as couples make up for lost time!
For us, it's hard to explain what this meant. We've been together 16 years. With the new law, our state registered civil partnership would have automatically changed to marriage in 18 months. I think it's 18 months, but at some point, anyway. Being registered meant that in WA, at least, we were considered "sort of married".
Even so, for the first time in our lives, we wore bow ties. We put on suits for the first time since I went for job interviews 12 years ago. The last time I wore a suit, I had a full head of black hair! Neither of is ever expressive, and both of us were near tears.
This is the only photo where I don't look like I'm scowling. I wasnt' scowling, I was trying not to cry.
Thanks again.
Comment by Richard Haynes on January 2, 2013 at 8:43pm How freaking awesome! I only wish I could of been there. Better yet, I wish I would have been the one marrying you two. What's the use of the "brother" title if I can't use it? :P
