The building with the big green cross was the dorm we lived in. You can't tell, but there are nine-foot, barbed wire fences surrounding this whole compound. Scary there are still places like this in operation today.

Its' a bit of both. Mostly to keep us in. Girls tried to escape and were even successful at times, but the punishments were severe. I think it happened twice in the year and a half that I was there.
