Say what you want about "boys and their toys," but this collection of hardware allows me to escape the foolish world as it is and dive ears-first into the MUSIC.
For anyone who is interested, the towers are Martin Logan "reQuest" hybrid electrostatic speakers. The black monoblocks are Mark Levinson ML-2 power amplifiers, and the center commode is a Vandersteen 2-W subwoofer.

Comment by SteveInCO on February 13, 2013 at 7:39pm I don't know the Martin Logans (I am a Bowers & Wilkins man) but I sure know Mark Levinson and Vandersteen by reputation. Killer system!
Comment by Loren Miller on February 13, 2013 at 4:33pm Electrostatics aren't everybody's thing, Idaho, though they sure as hell are MINE. They're also not easy to make, and, unless you have a design like the Martin-Logans, they tend to be VERY directional, with a single "sweet spot."
And yeah, you can do better ... if you have five or six figures in your wallet, and no, I'm NOT kidding!
Comment by Idaho Spud on February 13, 2013 at 4:04pm The one time I listened to electrostatics, it was the best fidelity I'd ever heard. I wonder why everyone doesn't make them.
Comment by Loren Miller on May 27, 2012 at 8:25am Indeed, I do have a turntable, Napoleon, and a pretty fair collection of vinyl. As for the speakers, trust me: they sound at least as good as they look!
Comment by Napoleon Bonaparte on May 27, 2012 at 8:19am I see you've still got a record player and those speakers look awesome.
Comment by Sentient Biped on February 26, 2012 at 12:10pm Very nice!
