Sorting seeds, an autumn task

Select plants that reproduce through natural means. Open pollination is the key to seed saving.
They tend to adapt to local conditions over time, and evolve as reliable performers, particularly in their localities.
A volunteer Goldenrod glows with bright yellow blossoms in the background; the plant is full of bees. It is an invasive plant, so I moved it to a more manageable place. Perovskia (Russian Sage) complement each other
