How lovely Joan. What a sight.
If you would like some more deer, I have a few I would love to share! :-) They decimate my trees and shrubs and flowers and vegetables, eating lush plants to nubs. I am gradually learning what plants they avoid, net and fence others. They are beautiful animals. But they are hard for me to live with.
Oh, would you like a few rabbits too? :-)
Deer are very smart. They will become afraid about the time of a first gun shot. You can get pics like yours above because we are now mixing our habitat with theirs. The deer are about as misplaced as once was the American Indian.
I'll never forget being on a deserted country road in Texas one night when a deer herd crossed in front of my van. The bucks walked right up to me and snorted loudly, being just a few feet in front of my headlights. I had just stopped and alowed them to cross. Once the herd had passed and crossed the road, the bucks were instantly gone as well.
Had a scene similar to that a couple years back, with a buck and three or four does wandering about across the street from me. It's a semi-regular occurrence, has been about as long as we've lived here.
