I haven't looked at all of the named references, but I suspect that some of them may date from the McCarthy era when "In God We Trust" Was added to our money and "Under God" was added to the pledge of allegiance. Both were a panic reaction to the "godless communism" that we were all taught to fear.

I don't think it should be constitutional - so it needs to be brought to court.
