Many thanks for the welcome!
Thanks for the welcome.
Hi Steph S. thanks for the welcome to atheistnexus. While in my past I was a professional biological scientist I now have a strong interest in philosophy, story writing and poetry. I'm still a strong advocate for science and especially the environment and global warming which has seen incredible battles over the last few years in Australia. We have a carbon tax but a lot of blood was spilt trying to get it and if the conservative government gets in a our next election this year it could be cut again. In other words the battle never seems to end. LOL
Thanks for your welcome! :-)

my typing skill is almost as poor as my eyesight.. please forgive me for calling you steve !!! i am very exited as this is my first ever self indulgance regarding my deepest and most powerful beliefs, i am not a university educated man, but pride myself ( very quietly) merely on my thirst for knowlege. my journey may be of some interest or , as i sincerely wish, helpful to any fellow human who is stricken by social stupidity at every level by bigots. i am uncomfortable on the pc and still miss pen to paper for expressing my self, i feel this site may invite like minded people to help dinosaurs like me to share what i feel is an untapped seam of observational kindness and wisdom. thanks johnno.

Thanks for the welcome, Steph. :)
Thanks, Steph! BTW, I love you raven pic.
Hi Steph -
Thanks for the warm welcome - I am really looking forward to some stimulating discussions here as I live in a small South African coastal town inhabited by an inordinate number of retired Dutch Reformed Church dominees (pastors). One can see how their religion-raddled brains have made piety, self-righteousness and moral smugness the town norm as almost everyone has thin lips because they are always pressed together in disapproval! Their old testament religion is certainly good sport for any outspoken atheist, although since I wore my "Atheism: a non-prophet organization" T-shirt to the grocery store, I've noticed that even their dogs are not allowed to romp with mine on the beach. . . go figure!

Thanks Steph. It is good to be among my kind.
Just received the news that my documentary featured on randi.org, which is a website of James Randi. The article is written by Steven Novella, M.D., JREF’s Senior Fellow and Director of the JREF’s Science-Based Medicine project. Excerpt: "Here is one skeptical effort that needs our support now: Deepak Gupta (not Chopra) is the founder of SavvySkeptic.com. He is producing a documentary film on homeopathy that will actually reflect reality. An indiegogo campaign is underway to provide some funding for distribution and marketing – please visit his page and take a look, and consider becoming a supporter, and also help spread the word. Fellow skeptics often ask me how they can support skeptical activism even if they don’t have the time or experience to run a blog or podcast – this is how. As a community we need to get behind those who are producing this kind of content." Full article: http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/swift-blog/2029-keeping-up-the-... Looking forward to your support. Thanks and regards, Deepak - See more at: http://www.atheistnexus.org/profile/DrTerenceMeaden#add_comment

Just noticed your question to me from last week on whether or not I'm trying to gain muscle mass. Of course!! Always have--for over 55 years, ever since I was a teenager. Weights, push ups, springs, you name it. Nothing has ever worked. Protein supplements? No help. I still try, but it's mostly just to keep fit and strong. Must be in the genes! So, do you have a magic pill?

Hey Steph! The kids are good, thanks for asking. The baby eats a lot and grows so fast. He's almost crawling now. I, on the other hand, am so very tired. Maybe that will change when the weather does. And how have you been? I like your new pics. Birding, are you? :)

Hey Steph! Just popped in for a few to share a discussion on wealth disparity in the US and wanted to say hi. Hope I find time to read responses! How are the rook and the crow related?

Hey Steph, Thanks for the welcome. Here is a fun opener. "What when removed from a reality renders it Null and Void, or non-existent"? And just how Nontheist is this site, as compared to Atheist? please let me know. Lonnie
