Greetiings to Garfield and Odie! They are my favorite "flavor"... ORNJ! (Well, I'm fond of "licorice" too...and tabby, and tortie, and... and... and...) Looks like they are quite content in their new home, and ready to take over.
PS to agnosticat: I LOVE your "name"! As in "I wish I'd thought of that one!" It's purrfect!
My user name saved me from having to repeatedly tell the folks at the atheist forum I once belonged to that I was agnostic. And cat, of course, because I'm destined to be a crazy old cat lady one day.
@agnosticat, when I first went online, I used "exhoicat" ...ex as in "former," hoi as in Holiday On Ice (I wanted to get in touch with old friends who were still alive), and cat because I AM a Crazy Old cat Lady. But I got tired of people shortening it to "ex ho," so I changed it to sk8eycat, which is obvious.
So ... being that I'm an engineer and also that I now have five (yup, that's right, FIVE!) cats in this house, I figured it was time for a primer on engineers living with cats ... so:
Steph, I haven't had time to visit all the groups in here lately.
"My kingdom for a nom" reminds me of the last act of "La Boheme," when Mimi is supposed to be dying of consumption, but keeps reviving to sing another full-voice aria.
I was in the 8th grade when our class went to see that opera, and it was very difficult for us to keep from giggling during that scene.
I really don't like opera...except for the instrumental parts. Hurts my ears, especially the sopranos.
That particular production of "La Boheme" really was miscast; the woman playing the part of Mimi was about as wide as she was tall, and they never should have cast her in the role of someone who wastes away and dies of tuberculosis/consumption in the fiinal act. It was hilarious...to a bunch of 8th-graders, anyway.
LOL I was listening to classical music before I was 5 years old, but it was mostly ballet music and (Dad's fave) Gilbert & Sullivan. They had one hell of a collection of 78 rpm records...including Glenn Miller, the Andrews Sisters, and I don't remember what else. BUT the only opera music they had was Enrico Caruso...a very old pressing that was almost completely worn out.
But this LOLcat IS the Mimi I remember from "La Boheme"...shrieking a few bars, and then collapsing, only to rise and shriek for another 5 minutes or so, and then collapsing again. Took her forever to die.

Actually, Odie and Garfield are only the latest wave. We've had THESE three since before we moved in!
From left to right, Boo, Sadie, and Morris ... so you can rightly say that we're up to our eyeballs in buzzy-cats!

Rap: people talking when they should be singing.
...from a humorous guide to musical genres floating around the web, which also includes stuff like...
Blues: sung exclusively by people who woke up this morning.
Folk: endless songs about shipwrecks in the 19th century.
Classical: discover the 45 minutes they left out of the ad.
(And I'm sure the kids remembered that miscasting as much as anything else in the opera!)

Loren great Happy Halloween picture.
I would post in the Ceiling Cat and Basement Cat group - but for some reason whenever I open the group to post it crashes my computer.
Not sure what's going on there. Maybe a plug--in is not working or something.
