PRISON FOR PREDATORY PRIESTS AND POPES WHO PROTECT THEM!

This group does not have any discussions yet.
Well my comment was slightly rhetorical given that anything I could think of would probably be considered "cruel and unusual" anyway.
OTOH I am told anyone in prison who becomes known to the other inmates as a child molester is in for a very rough time, given how many of the other inmates harbor resentments against the people who molested THEM as children...
Prison!?!? Are you out of your minds?!?!
Not nearly harsh enough.
Unfortunately, the long arm of the law has been co-opted by a treaty the U.S. signed with the Vatican granting the other diplomatic status and thus not just immunity but legal obstruction of justice. Thus, we will never get to the emeritus pop for his sundry crimes in doing the previous pop's dirty work. It is possible that his move into adjacent digs and his new title are devices to protect him in the event, e.g. the World Court, should get involved (not so far fetched: child molestation by priests is a violation of civil rights). As it is, though, there has been a significant step-up in prosecutions of clerics. It's about time! Now, if those parishioners would just wake up and realize they have been donating their shekels to criminal activities....
Loren, welcome and I agree with you.

Okay, I'm in.Let's cut to the meat of the matter: WHAT is it going to take to scrape the Teflon off of these priestly pedophiles and GET THEM ARRESTED? This crap has been going on for centuries and we've known about it for at least decades. The first report on the matter by 60 Minutes was (I believe) in the 70s, no later than the 80s, and in places, I have no doubt, it continues unabated to this day. It's time It Was STOPPED.
