Atheists who are fed up religion and the idea of god. Its time we all work together and abolish religion and the idea of god through logic and reason. As Michael Bakunin Stated :"If god really existed it would be necessary to abolish him."

New Atheism is the name given to the ideas promoted by a collection of 21st-century atheist writers who have advocated the view that "religion should not simply be tolerated but should be countered, criticized, and exposed by rational argument wherever its influence arises."
The term is commonly associated with individuals such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens(together called "the Four Horsemen of New Atheism" in a 2007 debate they held on their criticisms of religion, a name that has stuck) and Victor J. Stenger. Several best-selling books by these authors, published between 2004 and 2007, form the basis for much of the discussion of New Atheism.

Thank you for your invitation to join your group.I spent the first years of atheism learning what it wasn't and then learning what it is. This is an oversimplification of my thinking, but it kind of…Continue

Comment by James M. Martin on September 11, 2012 at 9:25pm They could not wait an untimely death such as that of Antinous in the Egyptian canal. No, Hitler and Stalin wanted God status in life. Their propaganda ministers and commissars made sure that the people worshiped them as North Koreans have done their last three Godmen. It worked, too, especially in Germany, where a love of order and beauty led to mass hypnosis through clever manipulation of symbols and the stark, dramatic use of reds and blacks in thematic materials.
Comment by James M. Martin on September 11, 2012 at 9:21pm The only problem with talking "abolition" (of religion), Ibrahim, is that then the religious right fanatics scare shit out of Americans by telling them you are trying to take their crutch away from them. They only cherish two things: their crutch and their guns. Take away the crutch you will be labeled "Hitler" or "Stalin," as those were known atheists. The evangelical right, having dissed critical thinking -- and facts -- move swiftly from the particular to the general and compare you to dictators who self-euhemerized into Gods.

Comment by James M. Martin on September 11, 2012 at 9:07pm Huckabee is the worst. He is so aw shucks I like to call him Gomer Shuckabee. "Smiling faces, smiling faces/Sometimes they just tell lies." It says something about Arkansas that they would elect this charlatan to the governator job.

I’m in but I need to state as politely and emphatically as possible that the concept of “abolish religion and the idea of god” is off the table, out of the picture. Let’s just work for and advocate: “You can believe whatever horseshit you want, just STAY THE FUCK OUT OF POLITICS.
We can even point to their own belief system, their own holy scripture. The Lord clearly said, “"Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" (Ἀπόδοτε οὖν τὰ Καίσαρος Καίσαρι καὶ τὰ τοῦ Θεοῦ τῷ Θεῷ Matthew 22:21).
I couldn’t make this nonsense up; I don’t even speak any Greek. The point is they are told to keep religion out of politics and government, yet these ass-hole Republicans like Mike Huckabee, Michelle Bachman, Mitt Romney and the inimitable numbskull from Alaska, you know… the one who speak in tongues—the glossolaliac.
The problem is they select Biblical quotes according to what’s appropriate at the time.
Comment by Napoleon Bonaparte on September 11, 2012 at 8:18pm I'm in because it's better than being an old Atheist. However, I remain an ardent Napoleonic Atheist.
Comment by Joseph P on September 11, 2012 at 7:57pm Well, there are only three of them left alive, if that counts.
Comment by James M. Martin on September 11, 2012 at 7:56pm "Yes I mean like the four horsemen."
Are they anything like the Three Stooges?
