What is new atheism?

New Atheism is the name given to the ideas promoted by a collection of 21st-century atheist writers who have advocated the view that "religion should not simply be tolerated but should be countered, criticized, and exposed by rational argument wherever its influence arises."

The term is commonly associated with individuals such as Richard DawkinsDaniel DennettSam Harris, and Christopher Hitchens(together called "the Four Horsemen of New Atheism" in a 2007 debate they held on their criticisms of religion, a name that has stuck) and Victor J. Stenger. Several best-selling books by these authors, published between 2004 and 2007, form the basis for much of the discussion of New Atheism.

Coca Cola distributed Fanta here. It was in various flavors and that was why they took it on.

Agree with Mord on Bush being stunned.  He just did not know what to make of it.  Either that, or he is one hell of a fucking actor.  Maybe he started emulating Reagan.  Or even took some acting lessons from him.  (Though Reagan was not much as an actor.)

I did not see W. as being unaffected by the news of the Twin Towers. He is visibly confused and/or terrified.  But maybe they had a stand in that day.

Sort of like, WOPS, without official papers.

"Wog" is a term dating from the British Imperial era. It's a deprecatory epithet describing non-white subjects of the crown.

<Just went right on with the reading for ten minutes.>

I think the dopey bastid really was stunned. In other circumstances, he might have started sucking his thumb.

I believe he is a genuine mental pygmy and that it took ten minutes to sort through the "WTF" going on in that tiny brain. Only then could he "act".

I'm curious.  What's a wog?  Truly, a testament to the power of money to make even stranger bedfellows than politics. Oy!

This gotta be good.

I will always find it curious that all the bin Laden relatives were flown out on planes

Precisely, there's something rotten in Denmark.  Coincidentally, W. was just a few miles from where I white this at the instance of 9/11.  He was at the Booker School on MLK Blvd in Sarasota.   When he recieved the news, he barely blinked.  Just went right on with the reading for ten minutes.
