Nerdlass have you taken the Myers-Briggs personality test? That is how I know where I am on the scale.

I need some help, y'all. I'm actually not sure where I fall on the grid of ...vertism. o.O

I guess what I'd term myself as is a situational introvert. Large gatherings, especially where I don't know many people, I turn into such a wallflower... But if I know people or if I have a job to do (like teaching), I can get pretty extroverted.

I recently went to a social event that had a good 100+ people. Despite knowing a good 15-20 of these people, I still managed to feel like an outcast and generally not have a good time at all. Needless to say, I won't be going back to that event, when it crops up again. However, when I posted about it to FB, one of my friends was shocked. He said I was the life of the party whenever we've hung out... but we tend to hang out in small groups and hello, they know me!

So, where do you guys think that puts me? I feel like a grey or at least striped version of both introvert and extrovert.

Yesterday, I saw a PBS show about digestion that had an interesting bit about extraverts and neurotics response to pain in the digestive system.  The neurotics responded by reducing blood pressure and heart rate which probably has a calming affect, while the opposite happened to extroverts.  The video talks about this at about minute 35:  http://video.pbs.org/video/2364996213

They never mentioned Introverts, but it sounds like they were saying that introverts are neurotics.  Comments?
