People become introverts and loners on their death beds. I've noticed this in general and with people who i knew quite or fairly well. We die alone which is why people go scrambling to bond or correct or enforce the way they bonded with those they…Continue

Comment by Marty on March 27, 2012 at 4:50pm Thanks for the welcome, glad to find a group I can really relate to. I agree with Jonathan, many people are stupid and I'm glad they drive me away! The worst part is there's no cure for it. I'm a loner by choice and love it.
Comment by Jonathan Simeone on March 27, 2012 at 11:46am Isn’t it sad that people drive us away from people? Sometimes I wonder if I’m a snob, but I can’t change the way I feel about it. I just can’t handle stupid people. Unfortunately, stupidity’s the most accommodated disability in America because it afflicts so many.
Comment by Jonathan Simeone on March 27, 2012 at 11:19am I laughed when I saw this group because there aren’t too many people proud to be a loner. In some ways, I wish I wasn’t a loner but then I go out and meet lots of people and I’m reminded why I am a loner. This might sound terrible, but most people just don’t hold my interest. I guess that’s why I enjoy being alone. Of course, it’s really cool when I meet someone new who can peek my interest.
Comment by Kath on March 19, 2012 at 10:17pm Thanks, Steph. The words "loner" and "introvert" are used negatively so often that for many years I thought there was something wrong with me. Then I read a book called "The Introvert Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World" and it was one of those life-changing moments. Like coming out, giving birth, getting sober, breaking free from AA, and the cathartic experience of the day that I woke up and knew that there was no God or gods. An introvert group on a nontheist website --- somebody pinch me because I must be dreaming!! It's good to be here. Thanks!
