Steph S: Thanks for the encouragement on veggies, but did you know that Marie Antoinette was widely misquoted?  What she actually said was "Let them eat kale."

I'll try.

I seem to be hungry all the time! If I don't something to keep me occupied during the day, that's all I'd do--and gain 100 lbs! It's the evening that gives me the most trouble, even after a big meal. I forget the brain chemical that causes this. But romaine hearts? Ugh.

One way to lose weight is to only eat when you're physically hungry.  If you just crave something to eat, you can eat something bulky with almost no calories, like a head of lettuce.  I find those packs of romaine hearts work well as munchies.

Randall, if I planted a garden I would be arrested for cruelty to vegetables.

Steph: That would be nice to link me up with Health and Fitness, although i could probably do it myself--maybe!

Craig: I know what you mean by too much fruit fructose. I have fruit trees and find it hard to avoid nibbling away at pears and now persimmons--very sweet! Do you have space for a small garden?

It is hard to stay on track during Thanksgiving and the holidays - so I will get back to business now. Veggies are good for your Craigar.

Randall, thanks for the encouragement.  I stayed on the wagon yesterday, but fell off today.  Stocked up on veggies today because I realized I was taking in a lot of fructose from the bananas, apples, and grapefruit.

Randall there is a Health and Fitness group too that is similar to this one you might like to join. Many of us here are in both groups. If you want I can link the other health group for you.

I hesitated to join this group being I don't have to diet, per se. And I didn't want to sound "better than others". I still eat way too much "white stuff" that's bad for me. But, I'd like to think my experience (at age 70) and education (reading and listening) have served me well where I can pass on a few tips to interested and concerned readers. And, perhaps, encouragement! Spud and Craig, you can both do it! I'll break it down to two words: WILL POWER!  I don't have to tell you eating right and exercising is the bottom line. Admittedly, I fell off the wagon Thanksgiving day, but I'm back on today--and every day from now on, hopefully. Good luck to you.
