There was a pair of house finches feeding on the seeds of Lyre Leaf Sage that dot my untidy front yard. The Lyre Leaf Sage sends up a slender stalk from variegated basal leaves. The blue flowers bloom around the stalk and the seeds are then in these round rosettes on the stalk. The little birds would jump up on a stalk to bend it down on the ground. Then they would stand on the stalk and pick out the sends. The pair went from plant to plant repeating this behavior. I have not seen this before and was quite amazed.
