I usually don't waste my time arguing with theologists, but I'll check out what people have to say.

My Grandfather used to say he was not stubborn, just tenacious. No way to change his mind ...

He also used to say - "10,000 Swedes hid in the weeds - chased by one Norwegian." (ah, what a kidder. He married a Swede after all ...)

Yeah Fred - language barrier aside - I am intrigued by your research and approach. I am curious though - my Grandmother was Swedish and Grandfather was Norwegian - they were both stubborn - but you are sometimes as 'passionate' as my father's southern European side. What's up with that? :^)

Bill - I was raised Catholic and, while I can trace my skepticism all the way back to the first grade - I was also always engaged by the Big Questions and they, at least, provided a kind of 'forum' (padded cell?) for this interest to be addressed (funneled)

Nevertheless, I went through a process that got me here in my thinking. And, while I do not believe certain types of fundies can be 'saved' - my 75 year old Dad is beginning to turn the corner... (to be continued)

Nothing like a good argument--religious or not.

Thanks for the invite Nerd. But now I'm forced to wonder - was I invited because you believe I might offer valuable insight into how to win an argument, or because you think I need to taught how? :^)

Actually, I am very pleased to discover that persuasive argument is being discussed as well as logical argument. In fact, logos can, at times, be the least persuasive way to bring someone to a logical conclusion.

I find that a variation of Sam Harris's short reply to Rabbi Schmuley Boteach is probably the best way to refute Christianity. Seen here.

Basically, we don't have to prove the absence of god; all we have to do in order to reject Christianity is show that there are bad reasons to take the Gospel at face value.
