A beaver leapt out of the water to maul a kayaker.

Maybe it was rabid, but while being rabid would be somewhat an excuse for the beaver, being mauled by a sick, vicious and infectious giant rodent isn't particularly better than being mauled by a healthy and vicious giant rodent. Those teeth can chew trees down.

I hadn't heard about that.  Apparently it was an angry swamp rabbit :)

I was feeling frustrated and angry when I read about the beaver attack, so it seemed appropriate :)

Interesting. Good thing it's rare. Yeah, Randall, I immediately thought of the Carter's killer rabbit attack too.
