Greetings.  We have decided to move the SWiFT Forum to Atheist Nexus, for at least the time being.  SWiFT will also be acquiring the Atheist Meetup Group of Milwaukee.  These two moves will better position us to stay in contact with a larger base of people and to help SWiFT reach other atheists in the area.  SWiFT is currently the only actual "physical" atheist organization in Southeast Wisconsin.  We are making an effort to reach out to more people.  If the need does present itself, we can certainly add a forum back to the SWiFT website.  Please join the SWiFT group on Atheist Nexus and stay in touch.  Thanks.

Depends on the county, some you have register with and some you don't, but I haven't had any real problems yet. Just contact the county seat ahead of time to be sure.

Some local officials don't think atheists should be able to do weddings but it's legal by state statute. The ULC is recognized by most states.

@Rev. Mathew G. Thompson - Oh man, reading all that and the wiki entry made me sleepy, whew! Well, I did stay up pretty late last night ;-) Did you have to register with the state of Wisconsin? I would suspect 99% of the population would consider the ULC some kind of joke, but it's sounds like it's OK for marriages and whatnot.

It's actually pretty common. My son is one, also.

@ Rev. Mathew G. Thompson - I'm not even going to try an wrap my brain around that one. OK, I'll bite. Where does someone get ordained to be an Secular Officiant?
Comment by Rev. Mathew G. Thompson on June 2, 2011 at 4:16pm

As in Reverend. I refer to myself as a Secular Officiant. Legally ordained, so I can marry folks who aren't inclined towards superstition.

And you should have been in bed hours ago!

Rev. Mathew G. Thompson - Rev as in Reverend? Dang, it's after midnight already!
