Comment by Jeffrey Samuelson on December 10, 2011 at 7:36pm ...crap...didn't finish:
I didn't consider how strong the cultural influence around here would be.
Comment by Jeffrey Samuelson on December 10, 2011 at 7:34pm Brother Sam Singleton - Goddamn! Depending on exactly where this hypothetical center might be, even the wife might be up for a short road trip to share libation(s) with some of y'all.
Joe Longwell - I suppose I knew that. I've worked up in Martinsburg for awhile now (which is why we finally moved), and some of my co-workers are outspoken about their faith. But I also attributed that to other aspects of their lives, and didn't really consider how
Comment by Sam Singleton Atheist Evangelist on December 10, 2011 at 11:44am Maybe some of us oughta get together for a friendly libation somewhere near the center of the state. OK, near what West Virginia has instead of a center. You know, West Virginia holds the geographic distinction of more closely resembling the Flying Spaghetti Monster than any other state. So there's that.
Comment by Joe Longwell on December 10, 2011 at 10:17am Jeffrey in my experiences yes WV is pretty religious.
Comment by Jeffrey Samuelson on December 10, 2011 at 7:45am Hello, everyone! Wife & I just moved to WV (Eastern Panhandle, Bunker Hill area) from Maryland. Gotta tell you, we're happy to find this group! Our very first full day here (Dec. 1), the gas man (Mountaineer Gas) invited us to church, and told me about how wonderful life is since he found Jesus.
Is WV really THAT religious?

Comment by Lee Barbo on August 11, 2011 at 1:18pm @Jennifer: I'm surprised that the Eastern Panhandle is so void of atheists, being that it is included in the metro area.
I'm finding that there is a shortage here is Central WV, too, though not as few as I had originally believed. I've met a guy who works with 4 atheist co-workers. If only I could work in such an atheist-friendly environment.
