We need an Atheist Headquarters!

A place as ornate and beautiful as any mosque or cathedral where atheists can meet, educate, celebrate life events, and organize would be a perfect addition to our society.

We used to have such places. They were called colleges. Thinking has pretty much been removed from the equation now. The average college student (and/or citizen) considers the study of philosophy useless.

My dad was confounded by why I would study anything that did not relate to increasing my income!

Maybe it shold be where a lot of scientists are. Isn't there a whole city, practically, of scientists in either Switzerland or Sweden? I thin the name is something like Cern or SERNE, and there is a HUGE underground science lab there. Saw it onPBS, Nova, I think.

BAIG. the idea of an atheist lobby is wonderful!! I believe our numbers are MUCH greater than most anyone expects, but that we are afraid to come out because we fear being a minority. A lobby...excellent!

Alaska is the least religious area in the US, and next is Vermont. Let's all move there and all the gays can move there, too. But, what would the taxes be like? VERY high, I think...esp. art grants, maybe not school taxes.

Its obvious that we need a Headquarters, a Vatican of Reason I would say. Personally, i would like something we can really rally around, an accomplishment known by the world. I propose it containing a library larger than the library of Congress.

We should build a small one next door to all the churches!

The steampunk idea is cool, lots of abandoned factories around the world that could be converted to huge meeting spaces

Recovering from Religion
