Welcome to the welcome center!

Welcome to Atheist Nexus!

Nexus has many ways for members to be involved, make friends, learn, and express yourself.   The welcome center is composed of Nexus volunteers, sort of like greeters at your favorite store.

Get to know people with similar interests by searching on Groups.  Use the search box on the Groups page, or browse through the many pages of groups, to see what's there.  There are Nexus groups for many states, cities, countries, personal expression, hobbies, and many other groups.  Get to know people based on what you enjoy, or what you have in common with others.

Ongoing forum discussions are more general interest than the groups.

MeetupTo find local atheist groups and make friends or chat, check out Meetup.com.  (note, Meetup is not connected to AN).  Join Meetup and search on a key word, such as atheist, skeptic, freethought, to find a group.

Support Nexus by visiting Amazon.com through Nexus (see the Amazon box on the right).  Buying from Amazon via the Nexus site does not increase your cost, but results in a small donation going to Nexus.

Terms of service helps you know the "rules".  You can also find the TOS on the bottom right of the main screen.

The right sidebar shows recent posting activities and discussions by Nexus members.  Click on "more" at the bottom for additional activities.

If you have general questions about Nexus, how to find what you want, or other questions, feel free to ask me or another volunteer member of the Welcome center!

Enjoy!

You're welcome, any time!

Sentient Biped, Thank you!  I did it!  I am so grateful you are at my elbow.  Your explanation was perfect.

Comment by Sentient Biped on December 29, 2011 at 4:08pm

My explanation was probably bad.  You are NOT dumb!

I assume this is a group that you originated.  scroll up to the line near the top, above the group's name with your photo.  Above the groups name is the "all groups        my groups"   Look to the far right from "my groups".  THere is the "options" button.  It is to the left of the "Invite" button which is to the left of your name.  It is below the "about us" button.

unless your screen layout is different, which is always a possibility.

I give up again.  I can't find Options.  Oh I am so dumb!  I feel like  first day in first grade.

Sentient Biped, Thank you!  I knew there was a place but couldn't find it.  OK

Joan,

If you are the creator of the group, you can promote someone to an administrator by going to the "Options" button near the top.  Then go to "Manage group members".  Click on the box by the members name, then go to the box that says "Please select one or more members".  Click on Promote to Administrator".

If you are not the creator of the group, it won't be possible.  You can be made an administrator by appealing to Br. Richard, but that can be a long process, I think he has other fish to fry.  If the creator of the group is still active, you can go to them and ask to be made and administrator, but you cant be made into the creator.

Let me know if this doesn't help!

OK, I give up, I have looked everywhere to redefine administrators of my group.

Thanks very much! : )

Steph, that sounds like a good idea.  I've seen your welcomes, that's great!  I think each of us have something to contribute.
