Dogly, where do you get your info about the Supreme Yaddayaddawhatever? I read an article about her in VegNews and have no more actual info than I did before. Does anyone take her seriously?

Sorry, I have no answers for your questions, but agree that both things are shameful. Just curious.

I have two questions, and I would appreciate the suggestions of my highly esteemed peers on this site.

1. How does one encourage a dog/cat/pet type charity to stop having fundraising dinners based on meat?

2. How can we prevent the undue influence of THE SUPREME MASTER CHING HAI from coopting vegan conferences, events, and education. (She is not herself really vegan, but designs clothes using silk, wool, pearls, and coral)  We, as vegans, are marginalized quite enough without being lumped in with the leader of a strange eastern cult- even if they espouse veganism.

Chris Z  Thanks for the link; interesting article!

Anybody here reading any Peter Singer books?  I'm reading the one about "what we eat matters", or something like that.

Animal Connection: New Hypothesis for Human Evolution and Human Nature

I'm not sure this is a "new" hypothesis, but it is very well articulated in this journal cover article from Science Daily.  It's pretty cool!

Sounds good... I used to make smoothies by blendng soft tofu with fruit. Blueberries are on the radar screen now as brain food, and so is soy. A blueberry smoothie should be genius!

Not watching food networks lately (didn't know there was one :-) but was thinking about making a veg version of cajun.... wonder if its possible... time to google.

@ Sentient Biped ... this happens to me about twice a year ... what i tend to do is watch shows on the food network (my favorite is 5 ingredient fix) they ALWAYS some kind of meat involved but i get some great ideas by changing the the meat to tofu or seitan ... or i will just google some ingredients i have in my frige and just make stuff up ... hope that helps :)

Naked smoothies, especially the blue and the green one they always give me a little pick me up! I also made a lovely mix of berries and walnuts to snack on and I look forward to that little snack. I had some today for breakfast and some yesterday afternoon. I put blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries (cut in half) with some chopped walnuts mix it up and snack!

What do you eat to get out of the doldrums? I'm in a rut! Who is eating something that they look forward to?

My vegan friend in Paris tells me that all you can buy there is HALAL too. Religion always gets a dispensation from State and Federal laws and regulations.  Those with blood sacrifice like Santeria, voodoo, and Islam all get a pass.  What if some Hawaians decided to throw a little girl (a virgin) into the mouth of a volcano, like in the good old days, would they be allowed to, or is it just other animals we can torture and kill for our gods?

I do not know why that accented top A keeps showing up once I add a comment.  I'm sorry about that.  It isn't on my side.  It is some sort of AN glitch.
