I live in a community whereas if anyone knew I was an agnostic/atheist I'd be run out of town on a rail.

In my books I make fun of religion all of the time while giving the floor to theist and they catch on which shows just how brain-washed and stupid they are.

I meant they never catch on.

Hi there...i joined this immediately after seeing what this group is about. I am a con-woman about atheism. My family believes i'm a baptized Christian (my parents are so-called unitarian universalists, and my grandparents are devoted Catholics), and no one can tell the difference. You don't know how well i hide my lack of faith. And btw, i like the 2nd to last comment made by Eagle...

Hello, I'm new to the site and the group. I immediately was attracted to this group since I'm also undercover for the most part. A few friends know about my agnosticism, but my family and some friends are fundies. I used to be too, but I'm glad to be free.

it's hard to be open about it living in the bible belt....I have to work with the public so I can't be too open about my beliefs or they'll go somewhere else just because they don;t want to do business with a "heathen"

I married into a hardcore Christian family, so husband and I are undercover because if they found out all they would do is whine in our ear about how we'll go to hell if we don't repent. To us, being undercover is better than that.

Boy, do I belong here. I am the only non-Christian in my HUGE family of 30-something first cousins, 18 aunts/uncles, one grandparent - all uber Christian. No way in hell (ha) I'm coming out. The closet may be dark, but it's safe in here!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 12 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…
