thanks Diane,
Mark I live in Iraq and as long as I 'm under cover nothing bad happens :), thanks
I am from Muslim background, I don't really know if I am completely undercover or partly , i have to wear scarf but everybody knows my lack of faith, I don’t say that I’m non-believer to them but don’t say the opposite either, always have troubles with my mom and my family they call me communist (they consider this as an insult) and Satanist.....
So far I consider myself agnostic....
I am happy that I found some place where I can speak my mind
I feel you. I've been atheist for about 2 years and I have to hide it from my family. My brother attempted to be an atheist when he was 13 (i'm older), and my family reacted by calling him a satanist. After that, i decided that if I were to ever become an atheist, I would have to hide it from my family. My boyfriend, all of my friends, and some classmates from my college know about my lack of faith, but my family knows nothing. They are mislead to believe I am a strong Christian, and they can't tell the difference.
I attend a Catholic College, but i don't let that deter my lack of faith. And I really wish you didn't have to hide in the closet. it should be something to be proud of, that you are smarter than theists are. not something to be ashamed of and scoffed at for. There are thousands of atheists, and the Catholic Church is losing ever more followers!!
Be strong, fellow nonbeliever, and hopefully this will console you :)
Hi, I was already a member but I had to delete and recreate my profile... so here I am again!
Hey guys, wow it's been awhile since someone posted. Anyway yeah as implied I'm in the closet about being an atheist. Most of my family is religious (you know "christian nation") but my nephews and a sister are almost as "bad" as I am.
I think one funny experience was when my parents were watching fox "news" and they were commenting on charities and actually said "yeah atheists never contribute to charity." Of course the source is the "funny" part. So question for everyone. Why is it that most christians watch fox?
