**thinks about getting a name change**

We've actually been around for a long time. Before I even had knowledge of a new Star Trek movie. I was just sittin around watching a TOS ep and loving every minute of it thinking why we didn't have a group on atheist nexus. I didn't think it would get approved because at the time all the groups were atheist related and there's nothing atheist about Star Trek. But I'm glad it did get aprroved because I've had some enlightening, interesting, and not so enlightening conversations here.

Jeffrey I found you guys because I was getting ready to start one but thought I better check through the groups list first. Glad I did otherwise it would have been a newbie faux pas!

Oh yeah I'd have been super pissed.

Er, Jeffrey why would you consider a name change?? And yes TOS is fascinating and I have to watch an episode each night before I fall asleep!! I also think you would be okay if a Star Trek group besides your own were created. I don't think I would be "super pissed" if another Doctor Who group were created!! Befuddled perhaps...

Because there are many different ways to spell Jeffrey just about everyone mispells it. Not even my own brother can seem to spell it correctly. Maybe I'll change my name to Joe. No way to mispell that and I don't have to change my initials.

Anyway I'm a shitty moderator but I love this group and I'm very territorial about it so I probably would be very upset if someone tried to steal my thunder. I'd make exceptions if someone wanted to make a DS9 group.

I like to moderate my groups as well...but definitely not in a godly "I am here now everything is okay...don't steal my thunder way". As for mispelling your name..I did correct it. My name is always mispelled...Leslee not Leslie! I'm used to it by now...

Actually I don't like to moderate my group. I'm very lazy when it comes to that but at the same time I don't want someone hijacking my starship if you know what I mean.

I do know what you mean. My blue box is important to me...my starship! No one is here to hijack your ss...you're in command sir. Should we address you as Captain Jeffrey?? ;) I like to role-play...

Oooh that's a great idea. I never thought of that. That'll be Captain Hart while I'm on duty, Jeffrey while I'm on shore leave.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
