Comment by Ruth Anthony-Gardner on September 7, 2012 at 11:42pm As Trekkies, I hope you also enjoyed the spoof Galaxy Quest as much as I did.
Comment by Mriana on September 7, 2012 at 11:13pm Now Voyager, that series was Gene's dream, only with the woman in the captain's chair, instead #1, and talk about exploring strange new worlds and new civilizations... they did it.
Comment by Derek Bly on September 7, 2012 at 10:24pm I'm going to leap to the defence of Enterprise! As a show about the origins of the Federation and humanity's first ventures into deep space travel, I thought for the most part it set things up nicely.
However, I think things really went off track in Season 3 with the focus on the Xindi. I like variety in such series and the single story arc just doesn't work for me. It's kinda like the X-Files, when the focus moved from all things weird to 'alien invasion.'
But I appreciated the way in which Enterprise set up for what we came to know as the world of Star Trek. Of course, we all see it differently. Some fans like the original series. Some prefer TNG. Some didn't like Voyager, finding Janeway a little wimpy.
As to Deep Space 9, I think it had the grandest theme music. Absolutely majestic and powerful.
Comment by Mriana on September 7, 2012 at 6:45pm Yes, I do love them all, except Enterprise. That didn't feel like Trek to me. It felt like modern times with a few aliens thrown in and a tiny bit of space travel. The last movie didn't excite me either. It seemed a little like Star Wars to me.
Comment by sk8eycat on September 7, 2012 at 5:15pm Derek, I've been impressed with Patrick Stewart since I first saw him as Sejanus in I Claudius. (I loved that mini-series!) I also saw him live at CalTech in an early performance of his one-man version of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol in which he portrayed all 40-plus characters, before he took it to Broadway. We had front row seats....ooooh-laaaa! He was amazing!
Comment by Derek Bly on September 7, 2012 at 3:48pm Mriana, I'm in your boat. I found something to enjoy in each of the series . . . even the short-lived animated series!
Comment by Mriana on September 7, 2012 at 3:43pm Of course, so was Geordi. Michael Dorn is cuter without the Worf/Klingon make-up.
Comment by Mriana on September 7, 2012 at 3:42pm I adored Riker and his beard. He was cute.
