Automation Singularity

Obviously we've already seen the beginnings of this singularity, ATMs, self-checkout in stores, automation in production plants. But eventually I see automation as becoming total. Driverless cars…Continue

So far I have come up with the following singularities, of course most of them compliment each other.

1. AI/computers

2. Automation

3. Energy/energy efficiency- Room temperature super conductors, other means of energy efficiency as well as greater energy production will make energy cheap and plentiful, even by today's standards.

4. Biology/medicine

5. Crime fighting

6. Wealth/quality of life- With automation lowering the cost of things and eventually making money meaningless everyone will be able to have a high quality of life, resources permitting. But technology will allow us to do more with less.

7. Art/entertainment- When AI's become common enough for everyone to have his/her own they will have creative programs that can write stories, even make movies with and music. This AI art can have as little or as much input as the owner wants.

There are probably others as well.

Using technology from other singularities like biology we could develop a real lie detector, the ones today don't really detect lies. If you could have a real lie detector that could be relied on the innocent would not be convicted.

Also when AI is developed we could have computers that act as detectives far faster and better than people, not to mention automated police that augment a human police force.

Crime fighting isn't something I hear brought up often in regard to singularities. Care to elaborate?

This group looks interesting. I have been interested in technological singularities for sometime.

Although different areas of technology will complement each other I see several different technological singularities coming, biological, automation, AI, crime fighting and others.

This is actually what I'm hoping will happen. I want to study neuroscience so that I can help in the developing brain chips someday. Sounds naive and far-fetched, but at least it's an aspiration I have in life and it's something I feel might destroy religion, so there you go.

Oh, and you should check out the 'Transhumanist' group.
