The Childless and Godless

This is a group to discuss the joy of being childless! I am amazed at the number of atheists I have met over the past few years that are childless by choice, here is a place to discuss stories and experiences!

ah yes, "god's plan". If "god" was so powerful, then he wouldn't have to have "plans" for us, he would make things happen, including whether we would have kids. They say he gave one woman a child without even having her have sex, so you would think if he "planned" for you to get married, he would have put a man you couldn't resist in your path and make you want children.

They don't even keep him in character, just keep changing him to suit what they want at the given moment - loving, vengeful, has a plan for us, gives us free will and will punish or reward us based on our choices. Any decent publishing house would reject the bible for its inconsistency if it was written today.

People are surprised when I tell them that I am unmarried with no kids and no plans to change that. I had one person try and tell me that it was part of god's plan for me to get married.

I agree with Monkeyfinger...wife and I were told we need to do what's right for the (human) race by propagating...I guess they were trying to pay a compliment, but it just sounded so very weird.

I don't know if I can think of that many but I've got plenty.

I can think of almost 7,000,000,000 reasons why I don't have kids.

Last weekend my girlfriend and I were told that because we are smart people, it is pretty much our duty to breed. UGH!

The world is controlled by fretful parents. We need to take it back from them.

I take it this isn't the forum where we wish everyone a happy mother's day? :-)

My wife and I talked about not wanting them on the first date. I was extremely happy to find out she didn't want children either.
