And now for something completely different: 40+ years downstream from the original Urbie Green and 21 Trombones, it's 21st Century Dutch equivalent: The SLIDE Factory!

Speaking of fun videos, check out OK Go's "This Too Shall Pass" vid of a giant Rube Goldberg machine:

Australian punk band Blitz Babiez have a great anti-religious-zealot song called "False Salvation". I love singing along with this, especially at the chorus: "Ain't got a problem with god, I got a problem with you!"Blitz Babiez "False Salvation" mp3

Hey Randy, that is so weird that I just discovered Neutral Milk Hotel this week! I'm liking them quite a bit actually, especially the song you linked below.

Sorry for the shitty video but the song is cool.

I couldn't get through it. I started it twice and only made it about a quarter of the way through. It is still on my nightstand in a little cluster of books I consider my "must read next" pile, along with Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum," Pullman's "His Dark Materials," and George Carlin's "Last Words."

Makes sense to me.

Speaking of struggles and critique of religion, have you read Cave's book "And The Ass Saw The Angel"?

Aiden, first thanks for the link to "Parallel Worlds" - I haven't gone fully through it but I am working on it.

Second, the lyrics were very strange to me at first, too. But Nick Cave is one of those people that I think still struggles with religion. He writes a lot of stuff that focuses on the misery perpetuated by religion and with people dealing with their own good vs. bad morality crisis. This song, I think, is influenced by the "eternal sinner" idea put forth by many religions, particularly Catholicism, and is supposed to show the misery that people feel surrounding morality/mortal sin.

Just a theory.... probably wrong!

As much as I love the music, the lyrics for "The Weeping Song" have me a little lost...

Possibly my favorite Nick Cave song:
