Does anybody have any books, movies, or documentaries about certain singers, musicians, bands, or musical genres they would like to recommend for the rest of us?
The only things I can recall seeing are the movie The Doors, starring Val Kilmer, which I thought was excellent, and the documentary on Roy Orbison called Roy Orbison: The Anthology.
The Doors was very good I thought, and I don’t think they could have chosen a better actor for the part of Jim Morrison than Val Kilmer.
I never saw Walk the Line, but I heard it was a decent movie. I am inclined to think something on Janis Joplin would be interesting, but I don’t recall ever hearing of any movie being made about her life.
The only books on music I’ve read have been Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground, and Marilyn Manson’s biography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell. I thought both of these books were very interesting and I enjoyed reading them.
What have you read or seen that might be of interest?
