Please help us defeat House Bill 314. The bill states:

Neither the state board of education, nor any public elementary or secondary school governing authority, director of schools, school system administrator, or any public elementary or secondary school principal or administrator shall prohibit any teacher in a public school system of this state from helping students understand, analyze, critique, and review in an objective manner the scientific strengths and scientific weaknesses of existing scientific theories covered in the course being taught.

This is nothing but a stealth attempt to insert creationism/intelligent design into our children's science classrooms. Please take the time to contact your state senator and ask him/her to vote this crap out of assistance. You can find the complete copy of the bill here. This bill has already passed the House. You can find your senators information here. Just enter your address and you will get your state senators information. It would also be helpful to contact the governor about this matter. Any help would be appreciated.

Brad,

Check out SB 0893, which passed. http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/107/Bill/SB0893.pdf I have posted a new discussion topic in the TN Atheists group and Nashville Atheist groups. It's positively disgusting what I saw. You should check out the link that shows the discussion by the House Education Committee. It's a real exercise in futility. It's like trying to teach brain surgery to chimps. Scary.
