Strong Atheists

A group for those who actively rebel against religious bullshit. Religions harm our society, poison our mind and threaten our mental health. This is an Anti-Religions-Group! No discrimination against a certain group of imbeciles, but all of them

@TNT: "Transgenders are to me like religionists or homeopathics, way too centred on the mind's misperceptions."

Yes, because you don't know anything about that, you have to formulate an opinion anyway. I don't even bother explain to you what is that; do a little bit of research, find what are transgenders, why are they so and only after that formulate an opinion about that. That is critical thinking and not pointing at one group that they are not such critical thinkers like you.

Also, @TNT, I don't think there is anything wrong with any of those procedures.  If there was something about my body that I wasn't happy with that was 100% fixable, I would fix it.

If the individual is oblivious, I wouldn't even think about telling her.  Stand up for her when you can, but, in my opinion, the more you put the spotlight on the situation, the uglier it is going to get.

Not sure how this is a religious thing. In Iran, the state covers all transgender surgeries cuz transgenders are not mentioned in the Coran. But from a strong atheist viewpoint, gender (as opposed to biological phenotypic sexually differentiated humans) does not exist, just as no spiritual world exists. So given that "genders" do not exist, I don't see the rational of getting a surgery in order to fit into some stereotypical "gender" construct. Transgenders are to me like religionists or homeopathics, way too centred on the mind's misperceptions. To me it's all ridiculous cosmetic surgery, just like breast implants and vaginal 'rejuvenation' and butt hole bleaching.

Question:

I'm studying Spanish and I am the only atheist in the class.  :D  There is a transgender classmate that is about to be harassed by 13 xtians.  One started preaching Monday nite about this person needs Bubbles aka J.C. and instead of dictionaries in the classroom, we should have bibles.

One woman was complaining about this individual using the bathroom.  My question is:

Should I inform this individual about the backlash and provide her with a name of an attorney?

This is starting to get ugly in the classroom and both this individual and teacher are oblivious to this situation.  5 members of this cult knows that I am an atheist and have told them where to take their religion.

The other line about W that I kept hearing that made me sick was, "He kept us safe."  Yeah, right.  Ask the people in New Orleans.

The unconstitutional UnPatriot Act "kept us safe" because nobody tried anything!

I'm glad that I don't need to travel by air; I don't think I could tolerate the TSA searches and other intrusive procedures without getting snarky.  And arrested.

A tiny Nisei friend of mine ... in her 80s...diabetic...legally blind...was pulled out of line at O'Hare and given a thorugh search, luggage and body, a couple of years ago.  She was one of a group of Dodger fans on their way to a game in Denver.  Did those uneducated clowns actually think she was a potential hijacker?

What really made me blow up when I heard about it was that she had already suffered enough injustice at the hands of the US gummint.  She spent her teen years in Manzanar during WW2.  Yes.

Disgusting.

I don't believe even a mildly intelligent terrorist group would ever try the same "trick" twice, anyway.

People...sheeple...just. Don't. THINK!

I felt the same way when W talked about our enemies.  It is sickening yet people eat it up.

I just watched the intro to Part 1, and I'm not bragging, but I have known almost since 9-11-2001 that "International Terrorism" was a political invention.  As was most of the hysteria during the "Cold War."

And I said so, but nobody listened to me, or believed me.

Keeping America in a constant state of panic and false ostentations patriotism was the only way Prez Cheney and his stumblebum talking puppet, "W," could get re-elected in 2004.  (And while we were distracted, their cronies in congress quietly altered the laws that used to keep Wall St. in line.) Among other things.

I mean, really.  Every time I heard W say that our "enemies" hated America "because of our freedoms," I wanted to throw something ... or throw up.

I have to watch that entire documentary, but not this morning.  Busy-busy-busy.

I also just latched onto a reference to an excellent column in Forbes, 2-24-2011 by Rich Karlgaard: "Wealth and Fitness Secret."  Gotta see if I can find that online.
